‘That’s the talk’: Oscar De La Hoya negotiating Vergil Ortiz vs Keith Thurman

Golden Boy Promotions promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed that negotiations are underway to match Vergil Ortiz against Keith Thurman. The proposed bout is being targeted to take place on the undercard of an upcoming David Benavidez event, with De La Hoya aiming to keep Ortiz active rather than leaving him idle while waiting for other major matchups.

De La Hoya also shared updates on several other fighters and situations, praising Floyd Schofield ahead of his bout against Lucas Bahdi and projecting Schofield's future at 147 pounds. Additionally, the promoter explained his absence from Ryan Garcia's knockout victory over Conor Benn, cited tensions surrounding the event, and weighed in on the feud between Eddie Hearn and Dana White.
