The England and Wales Cricket Board could provide financial assistance to ensure the England women's team plays a scheduled Test match in the West Indies next spring. ECB chair Richard Thompson told the BBC that the governing body would consider helping Cricket West Indies, which has recently enacted cost-cutting measures, because the fixture serves as vital preparation for England's 2027 Ashes series.
Cricket West Indies previously cancelled a women's Test against Australia due to financial pressures, though the upcoming tour featuring three ODIs and three T20s is not under threat. Alongside the proposed Caribbean tour, England will also conduct a 10-day red-ball training camp in India in January.
