Former New Orleans Saints first-round draft pick Marcus Davenport has decided to retire from the NFL at age 30. Davenport reportedly requested his release from the Chicago Bears following their Sunday game before choosing to end his professional football career. The news was first reported by NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.
The defensive end finishes his career with 25 sacks across nine seasons, having played for the Saints, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Bears. New Orleans traded up to select Davenport with the 14th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, where he spent five seasons and recorded 21.5 sacks.
