Trotting colt Kountry Prince, sired by Walner out of Plunge Blue Chip, sold for $825,000 to trainer Åke Svanstedt to lead the opening session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion. The session set a record average price of $199,883 across 111 yearlings sold, generating a total gross of $22.18 million.
Svanstedt finished Monday as the top overall buyer, spending $2.14 million on seven horses. Sired horses Walner and Chapter Seven led stallion rankings by gross and average sales, respectively, while Maestro Volo became the session's second-highest seller at $800,000 to Peter Cimino as agent.
