Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan continues to build his case for a shot at a top-line role alongside Auston Matthews and Kirill Marchenko.

Editor In Leaf's Jacob Tye argues that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan deserves an expanded role following a strong start to the season. Despite performing well over the team's first two games, the 21-year-old was limited to barely over 12 minutes of ice time across 19 shifts during Toronto's 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators under new head coach Jim Hiller.
Tye contends that Cowan should eventually replace Jack Roslovic on the top line alongside Auston Matthews and Kirill Marchenko if Roslovic continues to struggle. The writer notes that Cowan recorded nearly 30 points in 66 games last season and demonstrated positive past results during limited minutes with Matthews.
