Northampton star on his tenacious rise to the international ranks – and eating ‘massive cakes’ with Springbok colossus Ox NchéSome people are destined from day one to play international rugby for England. Others owe their selection to an injury crisis…

Northampton Saints prop Emmanuel Iyogun reflected on his journey from a reluctant front-row convert to making his senior England debut against Argentina in July. The 25-year-old began his rugby career as a back-row and center before coach Mark Hopley encouraged him to transition to loosehead prop. Overcoming early scrummaging struggles and injury setbacks, Iyogun earned his first Test cap under head coach Steve Borthwick, becoming England's 1,536th men's international player.
Iyogun highlighted key moments in his development, including an impromptu two-hour meeting in London with South Africa prop Ox Nché to learn scrum technique. After missing previous tour opportunities due to injuries, the Premiership champion credited his family's support and a resilient mindset for sustaining his rise through the ranks at Northampton and onto the international stage.
