Cameron Green has been ruled out of Australia's first Test against South Africa in Durban due to an abdominal strain. The injury occurred after Green was struck by a Corbin Bosch full toss during the third ODI in Potchefstroom. The allrounder subsequently missed Australia's two-day tour warm-up match before touring management confirmed he will miss the series opener starting October 9, 2026.

Cooper Connolly has been identified as the probable replacement in the playing eleven to earn his second Test cap. Green had already been managing a shoulder issue prior to this injury, despite finishing as Australia's leading run-scorer in their preceding Test series against Bangladesh.
