Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow announced that Roman Anthony will not require surgery on his strained hand following the team's postseason exit. Anthony was forced out of the playoffs during the first game, but medical evaluations indicated surgery is unnecessary. In addition, the Red Sox front office addressed power needs, citing high projections for second baseman Curtis Mead. Manager Chad Tracy and Breslow also met for over two hours with slugger Willson Contreras to resolve frustrations stemming from Tracy's early removal of Sonny Gray in Game 2 against the New York Yankees, which Tracy publicly acknowledged as his decision.
