India captain Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden T20I century to lead India to an eight-wicket victory over West Indies on Tuesday. India reached 172 for two in 14.4 overs to easily surpass the target of 172 in the opening match of the five-match series. Iyer finished unbeaten on 102 from 43 deliveries, hitting six sixes and 10 boundaries to take a 1-0 series lead.

Earlier in the match, West Indies were bowled out for 171 in 19.1 overs, with Sherfane Rutherford scoring 56 and Shai Hope adding 52. Debutant Naman Dhir was India's standout bowler, taking three wickets for 31 runs, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets apiece.
