Joe Rogan questioned whether training alongside Jon Jones made heavyweight Gable Steveson overly confident prior to his shocking defeat. Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist and heavy -3000 betting favorite, was knocked out in 12 seconds during the first round by +1000 underdog Sean Sharaf at UFC 331 in Los Angeles.
Speaking with Sharaf on his podcast, Rogan suggested that associating with Jones may have led Steveson to prematurely view himself as the sport's next dominant fighter. Rogan credited Sharaf with elevating MMA by demonstrating that an underdog can disrupt expectations with a single punch.
