Philadelphia Eagles fans will see much more of rookie offensive tackle Markel Bell for the rest of the season.
Rookie offensive tackle Markel Bell is expected to take over as the Philadelphia Eagles' starting right tackle following Lane Johnson's retirement. The 14-year veteran announced his decision on Tuesday night to focus on his mental health. Bell previously started during Philadelphia's 24-20 Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams while backup Fred Johnson managed a knee issue.
Selected 68th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft from Miami, Bell impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 5.36-second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-9 and 346 pounds. Although scouts noted concerns regarding his pass protection, the Eagles believe they can develop the raw rookie into a reliable starter.
