South Australia bowled out Victoria for 244, but they lost a gun recruit before stumps

South Australia dismissed Victoria for 244 on day one of their Sheffield Shield opener at Junction Oval before losing recruit Jake Weatherald for a duck. Weatherald fell to 20-year-old debutant Harry Hoekstra, leaving South Australia at 1-4 at stumps, with Henry Hunt and Mackenzie Harvey each unbeaten on two runs.
Hoekstra previously rescued Victoria by top-scoring with 45 runs from number nine in a 62-run stand with Doug Warren. Brendan Doggett and Henry Thornton claimed three wickets each for South Australia, while debutant Noah McFadyen took two wickets.
