Medhi Benatia revealed that Olympique de Marseille had seriously considered recruiting Lucas Da Cunha, now brilliant in the French team.

Former Olympique de Marseille football director Medhi Benatia revealed that the club actively tried to recruit attacking midfielder Lucas Da Cunha from Italian side Como. Marseille monitored the French player for nearly a year and a half before making an unsuccessful push to complete a transfer during the winter window.
Benatia explained that Como's financial demands prevented the deal from going through, describing the asking price as too expensive. As an alternative, OM redirected their recruitment efforts and finalized a deal for midfielder Quinten Timber instead.
