Bayern Munich Frauen defender Giulia Gwinn will be sidelined for several weeks after suffering a torn lateral ligament in her left ankle. The club's medical staff confirmed the injury following examinations after Bayern's 1-0 Frauen-Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 27-year-old's injury will also keep her out of international duty for Germany. Gwinn will miss upcoming matches against Australia on October 9 in Karlsruhe and Japan on October 13 in Bremen, leaving both club and country without a key player during a busy stretch of fixtures.
