Everton notebook: Aston Villa transfer finally confirmed as summer signing fights back the tears

Everton youth player Jake Doughty has completed a permanent move to Premier League rivals Aston Villa, with the Blues due youth development compensation. Meanwhile, summer signing Hayden Hackney made an emotional, tearful return to former club Middlesbrough during their 150th-anniversary Legacy Game, receiving a warm reception from supporters at the Riverside Stadium.

Elsewhere across the club, former Everton Under-18s manager Keith Southern has been appointed Under-21 lead coach at Fleetwood Town alongside fellow departing coach Alan Moogan. In addition, Everton Women midfielder Zara Kramzar sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City.
