Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor took full responsibility for his offensive struggles during the 2026 season following a difficult campaign played through physical discomfort. Naylor underwent triangular fibrocartilage complex repair surgery on his right wrist shortly after the season concluded. Despite playing through visible wrist and shoulder pain across 152 games, Naylor refused to use his injuries as an excuse for the team's shortcomings.
Naylor experienced significant career lows, finishing with only 10 home runs, 57 RBIs, and a .350 slugging percentage. Despite hitting struggles, he recorded 30 stolen bases on the year. Naylor enters the offseason looking to rebound in 2027, with four seasons remaining on his contract under president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto.
