It all started with a last minute decision to attend the San Jose Sharks' home opener against the Florida Panthers.

A viral video featuring San Jose Sharks mascot SJ Sharkie playfully biting a young girl's head originated during a family outing to the SAP Center. Michael Rocha brought his family to the Sharks' home opener against the Florida Panthers to lift their spirits following a family tragedy. While attempting to take a souvenir photo during the second period, Sharkie placed his mouth on Rocha's daughter's head, momentarily terrifying her before she fled back to her parents.
Despite the initial scare, Rocha shared that his daughter has since warmed up to the mascot and enjoys rewatching the clip, which gained widespread attention from outlets like SportsCenter and Bleacher Report. Rocha hopes the viral fame can lead to an opportunity for his daughter to meet Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini.
