Heroes, zeros and the inside pitch from the Yankees’ 5-2 loss to the Rays in Game 2 of the ALDS in the Bronx.

The New York Yankees were eliminated from the postseason following a 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the ALDS in the Bronx. Rays hitter Victor Mesa Jr. delivered the decisive blow with a two-out, two-run home run in the sixth inning against Yankees left-hander Max Fried. Following the final out, fans at Yankee Stadium chanted for manager Aaron Boone to be fired.
Tampa Bay's bullpen conceded only one run over 5 1/3 innings in relief of starter Nick Martinez to secure the victory. Meanwhile, the Yankees' lineup struggled, generating just five total runs throughout the series, with only Ben Rice providing consistent production. The defeat extends the franchise's World Series title drought to 17 years.
