Real Madrid: Spanish journalists focus on Mbappé and his Ballon d’Or

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé has faced widespread criticism from Spanish media after publicly backing himself as a major contender for the Ballon d'Or. Mbappé claimed he had an excellent individual year, calling personal performance the most vital criterion for the award ahead of the voting deadline.

Several journalists from Cadena SER pushed back against his self-promotion, citing Real Madrid's recent lack of trophies and questioning his big-game impact. Pundits highlighted his performance in France's 2-0 defeat to Spain, arguing other candidates deserve priority over the forward.
