Spurs captain was forced off for the Netherlands in worrying scenes in the Nations League
Tottenham Hotspur have avoided a severe defensive injury crisis after Netherlands manager Xavi confirmed captain Micky van de Ven did not suffer a major injury. The defender was forced off late during a 2-1 Nations League win over Serbia in Belgrade after Serbian striker Luka Jovic accidentally stepped on his left hand, causing him to feel dizzy.
Van de Ven's quick recovery provides relief for Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi ahead of their Premier League clash against Manchester United. Tottenham are already coping with absences including Pedro Porro and Jan Paul van Hecke, but Van de Ven will now return to the club for further medical evaluation.
