Atley Calvert had a fairly brief and nonchalant summer.

Undrafted forward Atley Calvert signed his first NHL contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 1, agreeing to a two-year entry-level deal carrying a $930,000 cap hit. The 23-year-old earned the deal following an impressive campaign with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where his ability to play across all three forward positions proved crucial.
Calvert recorded 38 points across 70 games during the 2025-26 AHL season while serving as a utility forward. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton coach Kirk MacDonald praised his net-front presence and faceoff skills, noting Calvert is following a development path similar to teammate Avery Hayes.
