Queensland recovered well after losing three early wickets against Western Australia at the WACA Ground

Jack Clayton and Jimmy Peirson led Queensland to a recovery against Western Australia, reaching 6-258 at stumps on day one of their Sheffield Shield match at the WACA Ground. After being sent in to bat under overcast skies, Queensland slumped to 3-51 before Clayton scored 82 and Peirson finished unbeaten on 65.
Western Australia's Kieran Elliott claimed two early wickets in his first red-ball match for the state, finishing with 2-43. Corey Rocchiccioli later broke two key partnerships by taking 2-85, before a third rain delay brought an early end to play after 74.1 overs.
