DETROIT -- Who led Tigers pitchers in games started, innings pitched, wins and strikeouts? The answer is Framber Valdez, just as everyone might have figured when the Tigers signed him in February. Very little else about Valdez's first season in…

The Detroit Tigers are focused on helping left-handed starter Framber Valdez regain his All-Star form for the 2027 season following an inconsistent first year with the club. Valdez led Detroit in starts, innings, wins, and strikeouts after signing a three-year, $115 million contract, but his 4.03 ERA and 17.8 percent strikeout rate marked significant career regressions.
Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris and manager A.J. Hinch highlighted late-season adjustments as the blueprint for Valdez's turnaround. Valdez posted a 1.93 ERA across four September starts after moving toward the middle of the pitching rubber and leaning more heavily on his curveball.
