The San Diego Padres were eliminated from the postseason after losing Game 4 of the National League Division Series 3-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers at Petco Park. Fernando Tatis Jr. provided San Diego's lone run with a solo homer in the third inning, but the Padres managed just three hits all night. A potential game-tying drive by Manny Machado was caught at the wall in the eighth inning to halt a late comeback.
Manager Craig Stammen used seven pitchers in the contest, including starter Walker Buehler and Joe Musgrove in relief. Despite the season-ending defeat to the 103-win Brewers, Stammen guided the Padres to 91 victories during his first year at the helm.
