Clay Snowden of Just Baseball argues that the Arizona Diamondbacks' offseason gamble to acquire 35-year-old Nolan Arenado proved successful during the 2026 season. Despite three years of prior offensive decline, Arenado revitalized Arizona's lineup by appearing in 152 games, slashing .255/.331/.475, and leading the team with 30 home runs alongside a 120 wRC+.
Snowden notes that Arenado succeeded largely by punishing fastballs and pulling fly balls at a 30% rate. While acknowledging that expected statistics and increased breaking pitches could signal regression in 2027, the writer maintains the trade has already paid off.
