Michael Ballack has warned against over-coaching, arguing that players need to be given more responsibility if German football is to develop the personalities it is crying out for.

Former Germany captain Michael Ballack has argued that German football suffers from over-coaching and needs to grant players greater responsibility. Speaking as a pundit for Sky Deutschland, Ballack stated that the national team lacks dressing-room leaders capable of self-correction, stressing that players must share responsibility alongside coaches for recent struggles.
Ballack highlighted that tactical over-systematization begins at the youth level, limiting players' decision-making freedom on the pitch. Following managerial stints by Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, and Jürgen Klopp, Ballack urged German football to dial back over-coaching to properly foster strong personalities.
