Texas Rangers shortstop Sebastian Walcott has returned to the Arizona Fall League with the Surprise Saguaros after recovering from internal brace surgery on his right elbow. The 19-year-old, ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 list, is the highest-rated prospect participating in the league and is now fully cleared for defensive action.
Walcott initially suffered elbow ligament damage after one game in the AFL last October, sidelining him for the first half of the regular season. Upon returning, he hit .322 with nine home runs and 11 steals in 37 Double-A games, mostly playing designated hitter before returning to shortstop late in the year.
