Skipper delays naming an XI as they continue assess conditions at Kingsmead on the eve of the first Test

Australian captain Pat Cummins confirmed that playing dual spinners remains an option for the first Test against South Africa in Durban. Australia will delay announcing their starting lineup until the toss at Kingsmead to further assess pitch conditions. Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann is being considered alongside veteran Nathan Lyon after South Africa named both Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer in their XI.
Cummins reported that he is fully fit and bowling without physical concerns ahead of a heavy 10-month schedule. Meanwhile, all-rounder Cooper Connolly trained despite managing a head cold. Pitch inspections by Australian staff revealed early cracking on the Kingsmead surface, pointing to potential turn later in the match.
