Premier League expulsion is possible for Manchester City after an independent commission found them guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the league's financial rules

Premier League clubs are reportedly divided over whether to expel Manchester City following an independent commission's guilty verdict on 114 financial charges. Proposed punishments discussed include potential expulsion to non-League, which requires 15 clubs to vote in favor, and a possible 200-point deduction spread across multiple seasons. However, other clubs reportedly fear expulsion could cause significant commercial damage and potentially revive the European Super League project.
Manchester City were found guilty of inflating revenue by over £900 million through alleged sham sponsorships, though the club denies wrongdoing and has appealed. The club maintains it possesses irrefutable evidence that sponsorship funds came directly from the Abu Dhabi government rather than its ownership group, despite scrutiny regarding past statements from title sponsor Etihad. A new independent three-person panel will hear the appeal.
