The Story in 60 Seconds

Sky Sports analyst Naomi Schiff has questioned Mercedes' decision to accept a power unit grid penalty for George Russell at the Singapore Grand Prix. Russell faces a drop toward the back of the grid after exceeding his allocation of internal combustion engines following a retirement in Sepang. Schiff argued on the Up To Speed podcast that the Marina Bay Street Circuit is poorly suited for overtakes and a recovery drive.

Schiff suggested an upcoming venue such as Austin would have offered better overtaking opportunities. The weekend is further complicated by a sprint race format limiting practice. Following his recent retirement, Russell sits second in the drivers' championship with 236 points, trailing Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli by 84 points.
