Ecuador head coach Marcelo Gallardo has confirmed that AC Milan full-back Pervis Estupinan suffered a sprained knee during international duty. Estupinan missed Ecuador's Kirin Cup third-place match against Panama in Tokyo, where his national side was defeated on penalties at the New National Stadium. The defender was omitted from both the matchday squad and the final training session prior to the fixture.
The defender will undergo comprehensive medical tests upon returning to Milan to determine the full extent of the injury and the required recovery timeline. The development poses a challenge for manager Ruben Amorim, as Milan faces an intense October schedule comprising nine fixtures across Serie A and the Europa League over a 28-day span.
