South Australia opener Jake Weatherald has been withdrawn from the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria due to a delayed concussion. Weatherald collided with a boundary fence on day one while fielding, striking his head on an advertising hoarding, but only developed symptoms such as sluggishness and headaches after stumps.
Following medical assessments on day two, Weatherald was officially subbed out, with Matthew Gilkes flown in from Adelaide to replace him. South Australia coach Ryan Harris confirmed the substitution, leaving Weatherald's availability for the round two fixture against Queensland on October 19 in doubt.
