The Washington Wizards earned a 111-109 victory against the New York Knicks on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden to open their preseason with a 1-0 record. After trailing 63-57 at halftime and facing a deficit of as many as 10 points in the third quarter, Washington rallied with a strong fourth-quarter performance initiated by a go-ahead bucket from Will Riley.
Anthony Davis led the Wizards in scoring with 16 points, while Trae Young contributed 15 points and AJ Dybantsa added 11 points. Jalen Brunson and Landry Shamet co-led the Knicks with 13 points each. The Wizards next host the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
