Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres disappointingly lost 3-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4 of their NLDS clash on Wednesday, bringing an end to their season.

Fans criticized San Diego Padres infielder Manny Machado on social media following his comments about being "inches away" from tying Game 4 of the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Padres were eliminated from postseason contention after suffering a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday, ending their season after Machado was robbed of a potential home run in the eighth inning.
Despite the backlash from supporters, Padres manager Craig Stammen defended Machado, praising his quality and leadership. Stammen noted that Machado produced one of his best swings of the season on a difficult pitch in Petco Park.
