World number one Jannik Sinner will not play again in 2026 because of an ongoing right knee injury.

World number one Jannik Sinner has decided to end his 2026 season early due to a persistent right knee issue. The 25-year-old Italian has not competed since successfully defending his Wimbledon crown in July. Sinner explained on Instagram that he and his medical team agreed he needs a course of treatment to protect his long-term career.
Sinner enjoyed a dominant year, posting a 44-3 match record and securing six titles across all surfaces. Because he cannot defend his late-season ranking points from China, Vienna, Paris, and the ATP Finals, second-ranked Alexander Zverev is positioned to take over the world number one ranking by year's end.
