The Tampa Bay Rays recalled right-hander Alex Cook from Triple-A Durham on Thursday, according to the MiLB transaction log, adding a familiar bullpen arm as the club turns toward the American League Championship Series.
The Tampa Bay Rays recalled 25-year-old right-handed pitcher Alex Cook from Triple-A Durham on October 8 ahead of the American League Championship Series. Cook's recall makes him available to the organization during the postseason, though the transaction does not automatically secure him a spot on the official ALCS roster.
Cook posted a 4.76 ERA with five strikeouts across four major-league appearances for Tampa Bay this season after making his debut on July 31. The Rays swept the New York Yankees in the Division Series and are awaiting the winner of the Chicago White Sox-Cleveland Guardians series.
