The Story in 60 Seconds

Senior Australian women cricketers have called on Cricket Australia to schedule more matches during peak summer, fearing current timeslots hurt youth engagement. Players such as Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Molineux raised concerns that matches held outside school holidays and on weeknights reduce crowds and hinder participation among young girls.

Under the current ICC schedule, Australia has no domestic WBBL or international home fixtures during the school holidays for the next three years. Players expressed worry over the Women's Premier League occupying the January window, with coach Shelley Nitschke agreeing it is disappointing to miss playing at home across December and January.
