Former BBC Radio Stoke commentator Nigel Johnson has become the first non-athlete inducted into Stoke-on-Trent's Sporting Hall of Fame. Known as "The Voice of Stoke City," Johnson joins local sporting icons such as Sir Stanley Matthews, Gordon Banks, Phil Taylor, and Eddie Hall on the esteemed list. Other new inductees include ju-jitsu champion Tara Bundred, grassroots volunteer Clive Dean, Garry Hall MBE, David Juggins, Kieron McKinney, and Neil McPherson.

Johnson spent 54 years with BBC Radio Stoke after starting his broadcasting career in 1969 by submitting local cricket reports. He began commentating on football in 1970 and covered more than 2,500 matches throughout his distinguished career.
