Formula 1’s return to Africa will become a reality as an important decision has been made, RacingNews365 has learned.

Formula 1 is reportedly set to return to Africa after reaching an agreement for Rwanda to host a grand prix starting in 2030, according to sources reported by RacingNews365. An official announcement could arrive in the coming weeks following sustained efforts by Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who launched the hosting bid during the 2024 FIA General Assemblies in Kigali.
Rwanda plans to construct a permanent racing facility roughly 40 kilometers from Kigali near Bugesera International Airport, designed by former F1 driver Alexander Wurz's company, WurzDesign. The event would mark Formula 1's first race on the African continent since the 1993 South African Grand Prix at Kyalami.
