Niko Kovac had specifically asked Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic to rest Karetsas for the game, but the 18-year-old was brought on for the second half.

Greece held Germany to a 0-0 draw in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday. Borussia Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton started for Germany and helped secure a clean sheet, while his club teammate Konstantinos Karetsas came on as a second-half substitute for Greece. The result leaves Germany third in Group 2 with five points, while Greece remains tied on eight points with the Netherlands.
Karetsas played despite Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac reportedly asking Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic to limit the 18-year-old's playing time. Karetsas energized Greece's attack with two key passes and made a vital defensive clearance on Florian Wirtz. Both players now return to Dortmund.
