Former assistant manager Gus Poyet feels captaining Uruguay will help Rodrigo Bentancur take his game to the next level at Tottenham.

Former Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet stated that captaining Uruguay during the recent international break will catapult Rodrigo Bentancur to another level at Spurs. New Uruguay head coach Diego Forlan handed the armband to the 29-year-old midfielder for friendlies against Japan and South Korea while Federico Valverde was sidelined with an injury.
Poyet praised Bentancur's all-around midfield qualities, dedication, and leadership during pre-match team talks. He noted that the increased responsibility will benefit Bentancur as he competes for playing time under Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, who values versatile tactical options.
