Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey has been ruled out day-to-day due to an upper-body injury suffered in Wednesday's 3-2 victory against the Colorado Avalanche. Head coach Scott Arniel confirmed Morrissey will miss Friday's contest against the Anaheim Ducks, though the blueliner is not expected to be sidelined long-term. Morrissey logged just 9:32 of ice time before exiting Wednesday's matchup.
Morrissey had registered three assists across Winnipeg's first three games of the season while averaging roughly 23 minutes per game. In his absence, Neal Pionk is set to take over the quarterback role on the top power-play unit, while Dylan Samberg and Dylan DeMelo will form the Jets' primary defensive pairing against Anaheim.
