The Sky Blues icon scored 72 goals in 171 appearances during his time with Coventry City but now admits it was a hard decision to join

Former striker Dion Dublin revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson wanted him to stay at Manchester United rather than join Coventry City in 1994. Speaking on the podcast In The Mixer, Dublin explained that Ferguson intended to keep him for European competitions, but Dublin pushed for the £2 million transfer to secure regular playing time under Coventry manager Phil Neal.
Dublin became a Coventry icon, scoring 72 goals in 171 appearances and sharing the 1997/98 Premier League Golden Boot with Michael Owen and Chris Sutton after netting 18 league goals. He later joined rival club Aston Villa for £5.75 million in 1998, a move he acknowledged some supporters have still not fully forgiven.
