The Indian Olympic Association has scheduled its Executive Council elections for December 5 and appointed former Election Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Srivastava as returning officer. The elections will take place five days before the current council's term expires on December 10. The electoral process will adhere to the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, the 2026 rules, and the amended IOA Constitution.
Ahead of the main vote, the IOA Athletes' Commission elections are scheduled for November 3, establishing a 10-member body evenly split between men and women. IOA president PT Usha emphasized the importance of transparency and athlete-centric governance, especially as India continues its pursuit of hosting the 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad.
