A Lakers insider sees shades of Alex Caruso in an unexpected preseason standout making a strong impression with his defense.
Los Angeles Lakers insider Jovan Buha highlighted guard Chris Mañon as the standout back-end roster player following a 114-110 preseason win over the Sacramento Kings. Buha drew comparisons between Mañon and former Lakers guard Alex Caruso, citing his high-energy perimeter defense and disciplined instincts despite ongoing offensive limitations.
While Mañon still faces challenges with outside shooting and shot creation, Buha suggested he could thrive defensively in lineups alongside primary playmakers like Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, or Collin Sexton. Mañon's full-court defensive pressure offers immediate utility as the Lakers finalize their rotation depth.
