Australia posted just shy of 400 after Renshaw's epic century

Matthew Renshaw struck a career-best 190 to propel Australia into a dominant position on day two of the first Test in Durban. His marathon innings lifted Australia to a first-innings total of 390 after the team slumped to 8-230 earlier in the day. Before bad light brought an early close to play at 4:25pm local time, South Africa finished the day on 1-27.
Renshaw combined with Nathan Lyon for a crucial 134-run ninth-wicket partnership, frustrating the Proteas' bowling attack across the middle session. Wiaan Mulder took 4-68 for the hosts, but Renshaw's mastery of the strike turned the match around. Josh Hazlewood then struck before stumps, having Ryan Rickelton caught at third slip.
