The New England Patriots announced several roster moves ahead of their Week 5 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Wide receiver Mack Hollins and fullback Reggie Gilliam were both placed on injured reserve, sidelining them for at least four games. In corresponding moves, the Patriots promoted cornerback Kindle Vildor to the 53-man roster and activated safety and special teamer Brenden Schooler from the non-football injury list.
Bernd Buchmasser of Pats Pulpit writes that Hollins' calf injury will expand opportunities for receiver Efton Chism III, while Gilliam's absence impacts an already struggling run game. Vildor provides much-needed depth with cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis ruled out, and Schooler's activation restores a key contributor to New England's special teams unit.
