Christian Horner has revealed the moment his relationship with Adrian Newey changed at Red Bull, admitting he felt he could “no longer rely” on the legendary F1 designer.

Christian Horner revealed that his professional relationship with Adrian Newey fundamentally changed when the designer considered an approach from Ferrari in 2014. Speaking to The Times, Horner stated that he felt he could no longer rely on Newey after he considered leaving during Red Bull's early struggles in the turbo-hybrid era.
To retain Newey at the time, Red Bull involved him in developing the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar. Although the partnership continued and yielded further titles with Max Verstappen, Newey ultimately departed Red Bull in 2024 to join Aston Martin.
