Anthony De Ceglie resigned from the CEO role on Friday.

NRL executive chairman Peter V'landys addressed leadership turnover and coaching rumors at the Perth Bears following the resignation of CEO Anthony De Ceglie. Speaking at a World Cup launch, V'landys dismissed reports of friction between head coach Mal Meninga and assistant Ben Gardiner as blown out of proportion. He confirmed that the Perth Bears board will choose De Ceglie's successor autonomously, despite the Australian Rugby League Commission technically holding ownership.
De Ceglie resigned on Friday after board frustration, leaving Gareth Holmes to assume chief executive duties during the search for a permanent replacement. Holmes had previously replaced David Sharpe as head of football following earlier internal friction. Backing Meninga's leadership, V'landys expressed confidence in the Bears' direction ahead of their inaugural pre-season training, which begins in November.
