Cincinnati Reds outfielder Noelvi Marte is in a familiar position this winter with the Gigantes del Cibao. Will it work?

Noelvi Marte recently started in center field for Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League, signaling the Cincinnati Reds' continued willingness to experiment with him at the position. Blog Red Machine's Drew Koch notes that while Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall recently acknowledged Marte struggled during the MLB season, the franchise is not giving up on the 24-year-old outfielder.
Marte struggled in the majors, hitting .189 with a 41.2% chase rate over 63 games, but performed well at Triple-A Louisville. Koch argues that getting center field reps is a worthwhile winter strategy, though Marte's plate discipline remains his most critical area for improvement heading into next season.
